Not a newbie to the Munich International Festival of Filmschools: director Menno Otten comes for the second time to present his documentary “Time within Time”. He answered our questions on films and inspiration.

What tagline or catchphrase describes your film best?
An observing documentary about drifting away in thoughts.
Do you remember the first movie you ever saw?
Napoleon, by Abel Gance.
What was the worst movie you ever saw?
Feestje, a Dutch comedy.
Who do you consider the best director of all time?
Robert Bresson.
Why do you make films? What motivates you?
Ah, well, I just happened to make movies by accident after seeing “The Appartment” by Billy Wilder… wanted to do that, too (no way!!!)… hmm, want to make people stop and look around a little bit more often.
What do you immediately associate with Munich? (except beer!)
What is there in Munich except beer?
What’s the most important thing you’ll bring with you to Munich?
My warm clothes … after last year’s trip I’ll bring something for the snow this time.
How long will it take you to get to Munich?
I fly in from Turkey, it will take about 2 hours I think.
